CONCUSSION AND CHEERLEADERS


 We know that children need recovery time if they have had a concussion.  Did you know that trainers and coaches rely on a child's description of symptoms to decide if they should return to activiity?  Cheerleaders who denied headaches and memory changes were tested with a cognitive test.  The IMPACT testing differed from their description of symptoms in at least one area. Georgia will requires a physician release to return to play after concussion.  Make sure you check with your physician or concussion clinic if symptoms develop.
